I enjoyed it very much. I also have heard about this place for quite some time but for some reason just made it there are now. Definitely will be seeing me again. Sorry magic Island I didn't give you five stars. I never give anybody five stars, four is my highest rating so you should still be very proud of yourselves.
Fabulous food every time
Absolutely amazing food, and a very cleanly environment. Perfect for a quick snack or good meal with friends.
The outside look of the restaurant was deceiving. When you come in, the place looks very clean and decent. The food was absolutely delicious. We were feeling brave when we ordered our food with level 6 spiciness. They were not kidding with it, it was really spicy! Will definitely go back here but will go with a lower level of spiciness next time. Lol
Great place, been consistently great for years. All the food is good but any kind of curry there is the best
Probably the best Thai food in the city. Not a large menu but also not one that scrambles your brain trying to decide what you want. I recommend to all who enjoy Thai food and to those who have never had try it. You will not be disappointed.
My first experience was good. The food was tasty and plenty for two. Service was speedy and courteous.
The peanut sauce that comes with the calamari and spring rolls is FANTASTIC! They have about 4 types of flavours/sauces and if you order all 4, none of them are overpowering the others. So if you have a coconut curry dish then a peanut dish you aren't still tasting curry. Limited seating so plan accordingly. Staff is minimal but they do a good job in getting it out quick
One of the best Thai restaurants in the city. Very affordable (most meals $10-12) and served very promptly. Quality is great . Can get quite busy during lunch, but evenings usually seem to be quieter. Can't say I wouldn't recommend any of the menu items as all the ones I've tried have been great!
Reasonably priced. Fresh ingredients.
Great food. Good prices. Sketchy area.
One of my absolute favourite restaurants. It's definitely one of those "hidden gems". The food is delicious. You can tell the employees how spicy (or non-spicy) you want your food. They will give you an option between 0 and 10 (10 being the hottest). I recommend the pad thai! My boyfriend also really enjoys the calamari.
Cool, calm and serene restaurant with different choices to pick from
Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Visiting Winnipeg and so glad we tried it. Extremely flavorful food. Ordered a few dishes and shared.
We only eat out maybe 6-8 times a year, but this is one of our hotspots. It's close to home, parking is easy, clean, and omg is it good.
Amazing Thai food. Best in the city. I wish they had delivery option.
The Red Curry soup is beyond ridiculously good.
Best Thai food in Winnipeg, hands down! This family run restaurant has a concise menu of classic Thai dishes prepared in an authentic way. Take service is quick and prices are very reasonable. You might just forget that you're in Winnipeg at all. The renovations look great too! Spice levels above 5 are hot, 8 and up are not for the faint of heart. The red curry is to die for!
We tried red curry beef. Very good taste!
Typical of what you'd expect. Low profile restaurant in a sketchy area.Food is fantastic.Stir fries are mediocre but tasty.Soups are fantastic.
Great authentic thai food
Customer service and food was great!
I think the food is here good, I'd recommend the crab rangoon for sure. The pad thai and coconut curry were good but could use more flavour.
A long-time favourite. In an industrial area of town, appears a bit run-down but the red curry coconut milk soup never disappoints.
This place is such a hidden GEM!! It is our date night "go-to" for a good reason. Whether your vegetarian, vegan, meat eater, it's got dishes for everyone and you will not be disappointed if you love thai food. I also think this might be the only thai restaurant I've been to that serves udon. All around yum!
Worth a try and I recommend green curry udon. It is delicious! It isn't in the best part of town and no parking lot but some of the best small places are like that.
This is the real deal. Great food, friendly and fast service. If it wasn't for the location I'd be going each week. Not close enough! I enjoyed the red curry soup.
The food was good, but the service is only ok. We did make a game of who can kill the most fruit flies though.
Me and my friend finally went to Magic Thailand for the first time the other week. Unfortunately, it turned out to be closed cause we forgot to check that there were select hours of the day where they are not opened. We came around 4:30pm on a weekday, checked the door and it was locked noticing that it's not open till 5pm. As we started walking away, the owner? unlocked the door and invited us inside. I was happy to see that the appearance inside was a lot nicer than outside as it doesn't look very appealing from the street lol!! I got the Red Curry, my friend got the Pad Thai - we've both had these dishes many times at different Thai places and were satisfied enough with Magic Thailand that I can definitely recommend it to others and consider it a worthwhile restaurant to go back to.
I love the food here. My favourite is the Red Curry soup. Most options are or can be Vegan friendly. Tofu is available in place of meats.
Don't let the simple exterior fool you. This place is clean, well appointed, and the food is very, very good.
Our favourite Thai restaurant in the city! This gem is tucked away on Logan, and if you haven't been you're missing out.The portions are outstanding, service extremely quick and the food is so dang good! We always start with the red curry soup and crab rangoon. Then it's a tossup between the green curry Udon noodles, Pat Phet and Mee Krop. We've had the opportunity to try a number of Thai restaurants while travelling and here at home + we keep coming back to this fave!
Thai Guy: Great traditional home made Thai food. I had Thai ice coffee&tea 5/5. You can't mess this up...Well you can if you use a pot of coffee. Their style of stuff chicken has more rice noodle then chicken and really crispy skin 5/5. Laap or Lurb is mince beef with tossed salad. Their version has less secrete ingredient then normal and it was really good 5/5. Their Somtum is papaya salad with lots of papaya, tomatos and lime. It tasted like home 5/5. Overall great atmosphere and up to date with elephant decor because its not Thai without some sort of elephant. LOL!
We had a Green mango salad at an 8 spicy, a coconut based vegetable soup, also at an 8 on the spicy scale, and calamari. The breaded, deep fried calamari may be the best in the city. Not greasy at all, and a delectable clean tasting costing with fresh tasting meat that is not fishy. The salad and soup were great but not as spicy as we were hoping. Usually ordering things at an 8 will not leave one wanting for more spice.Great Thai food at a reasonable price, as usual.
Don’t judge a restaurant by it’s neighbourhood. Was surprised by this gem of a restaurant. Nice interior and amazing food. I was very quickly won over!
I pass this place everyday and always wanted to try it, and recently decided to do so. While it is not a pretty building on the outside (painted brick construction), the inside is beautiful, not to mention nice and clean -- appearances can be deceiving! The menu is comparable to the place I used to go to on McPhillips, back when it was good, and I have to say that I miss the different dishes cooked the right way. I had the Pad Thai, and it was perfect! My Missus had the Pineapple and Chicken stir fry and she said that it was excellent. We'll be back for sure -- we want to work our way through the menu!
Great place
After hearing many rave reviews, we decided to try this restaurant. We were very dissapointed. Lack of flavor and clearly not fresh ingredients. Everyone can have a bad stretch, so we tried them again after a couple of years. Not only was the food not any better, the service was terrible. I'm guessing people that like this place have never had true authentic Thai food.
Very nice place and great food & service. Can't ask for anything more.
Great authentic Thai food. The best red coconut curry soup I've had to date, hands down. Definitely recommended to anyone who enjoys good Thai food.
Great place for a quick lunch. Staff are friendly, food is killer. Wish they'd relocate to a nicer part of town.
Great food. Nice that there is a spice level from 0 to 5 for food orders. Noticed last year, when you order take out, if you don't ask for rice, and pay an additional charge, they don't give any. This was disappointing as rice is the least expensive item to add to a meal. Despite this, food is awesome and will continue to eat in as you get rice with your meal and on occasion will order take out.Another visit, placed order for take out as on cold days one loves hot soups. Magic Thailand has the best green curry coconut chicken soup in Winnipeg. A large order was enough for 3 servings, also order 1 order of rice with the soup. (Picture shows just 1 serving)
So good. The menu is just big enough to give you a sampling of many different types of Thai dishes, but not so big as to overwhelm. The green curry is so balanced, the Tom Yum soup is wonderfully sour, savory and spicy. The laap, a Thai/Laotian salad with meat and vegetables, is a delicious change of pace. Can't miss starters: the papaya salad is a wonderful combination of flavours, but be careful how spicy you order it! The do-it-yourself lettuce wraps are a must for groups of three or more. Iceberg lettuce is used, so they're easy to wrap, and the assortment of fillings all brought on a wonderfully presented platter is amazing. Quick, attentive service even when busy, reasonable prices. An absolute gem.
Awesome food, great friendly service. Highly recommend 👍
Wow! Eat here. Now.I love Thai food. Winnipeg has a lot of good Thai restaurants, but Magic Thailand stands out. I came here when I was young all the time. I hadn't been in ten years, I've dreamt of the Krab Rangoon and Guava smoothies! Tonight I went back and it was everything that I could have hoped for after ten years of anticipation!! Pad Phet curry is amazing... Sweet and spicy. Just try it all. Truly magic!
Hands down best Pad Thai I've had in the city! The portions are big and the costs are affordable. Don't be fooled by the outside appearances as the foods speaks for itself! Watch out for the lunch rush as it can get quite busy! Well worth the wait!
It was sooo good.
Awesome food! Nice staff
Visited city for 2 days. This is one of the best places where we ate. The lady who was taking our order knew about food allergies and she was very polite and helpful. The food was so yummy. Portion sizes are big. She told us one dish can be shared. Thanks to the whole team of restaurant for authentic food.
Friendly service, food was very good. Reasonably priced. 4.5 stars
